Challenges encountered and strategies employed in teaching Araling Panlipunan in Tagudin District: Basis for an instructional plan

Abstract

This study examined the challenges and strategies in teaching Araling Panlipunan in the Tagudin District, Division of Ilocos Sur, with the ultimate goal of developing a contextualized and responsive instructional plan. A literature review was conducted to provide a deeper understanding of these concepts. This study employed a descriptive and correlational research design to systematically examine the challenges encountered and instructional strategies used by Araling Panlipunan teachers. The ample included 75 Araling Panlipunan teachers from the various public elementary schools and school heads which utilized the total population. Findings revealed that: Araling Panlipunan teachers demonstrated a high and strongly agree with the challenges they encounter in terms of instructional delivery; the strategies used to address the perceived challenges encountered by AP teachers is on the very high extent indicating they are implementing the conduct of some strategies such as paired activities for collaborative learning and real-life examples in teaching the concepts. However, Pearson r indicated a   no significant relationship between the challenges encountered and the strategies used by the AP teachers. The study suggests future research to conduct using other variables related to instructional strategies to address challenges on Araling Panlipunan and to further validate and explore its long-term impact on learners’ academic performance.
