Entrepreneurial leadership towards business sustainability of food establishments around Mariano Marcos State University – Batac Campus

The study examined the extent to which entrepreneurial leadership influences the business sustainability – specifically the economic, social and environmental of food establishments around Mariano Marcos State University – Batac Campus. Specifically, it sought to determine how entrepreneurial leadership practices affect business sustainability in economic, social and environmental dimension. Guided by Elkington’s Triple Bottom Line (TBL), which emphasizes the integration of profit, people and planet and Hambrick and Mason’s Upper Echelons Theory (UET), which suggested that the leader’s characteristics shape organizational outcomes, the research explored the role of entrepreneurial leadership in ensuring sustainability of small and medium food establishments. The study employed quantitative descriptive-correlational research design, Data were gathered from 62 purposively selected owners and managers of food establishments through a structured and validated questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, such as mean and standard deviation were used to assess the levels of entrepreneurial leadership and business sustainability practices, while Pearson correlation coefficient was utilized to test the relationships between entrepreneurial leadership and three business sustainability dimensions. Findings revealed that respondents demonstrated very high level of entrepreneurial leadership, particularly in vision and strategic thinking, adaptability, risk-taking, innovation and team development. Business sustainability was likewise rated very high across economic, social, and environmental practices. The correlation results indicated a strong positive relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and both economic and social sustainability dimensions, and moderate positive relationship with environmental sustainability dimension. The results affirmed the importance of possessing a high level of entrepreneurial leadership skills in achieving long-term business sustainability across in all three dimensions. The study also discussed implications and limitations and offers recommendations for future research. Overall, the study contributes to the growing body of literature in entrepreneurial leadership and business sustainability.
